Trauma and Substance Use: Developing Guidelines for Informed Practices

Project Lead:

Nancy Bradley, The Jean Tweed Centre

The development of guidelines and core competencies to support addiction workers working with clients who have a history of trauma.

How will this project benefit Ontario?

Best practices guidelines developed through this initiative will, when implemented, lead to improvements in addiction workers’ ability to engage and provide appropriate services and referrals to substance-involved women who have experienced trauma.

How can you get involved?
A Steering Committee comprised of representatives from a cross-section of women’s substance use services will provide direction to the initiative. Input will be sought from key experts (from clinical, research, academic, and policy areas) who have specialist knowledge of the best practices at the intersections of trauma and substance use.
